TELE EMS supports VivaBack with declaration of conformity and industrialization<\/h2>\n

Digitalization offers great opportunities in the healthcare sector. The startup VivaBack, for example, makes back health measurable at the workplace. For this purpose, the young company has developed a special sensor technology that records and evaluates body posture and back movements over a period of up to 24 hours. Based on this data, imbalances in movement behavior are detected and targeted advice for improving back health is made possible. The two founders Valentin Rosegger and Dr. Robert Pilacek, as well as a technical assistant, began developing their first prototype in 2015 with the support of Danube University Krems. Individual motion profile for back health<\/h3>\n

“Since then, we have scaled down the product and significantly improved the technology,” explains founder Valentin Rosegger. “Two special, ultra-flat motion sensors that are glued to the skin provide us with reliable data for a meaningful motion profile over a period of up to 24 hours. The sensors are virtually imperceptible to our program participants*, most of whom forget that they are being ‘measured’, which is important for a natural motion profile,” Rosegger continues. A self-learning algorithm in the VivaBack system creates the movement profile from the generated data and derives corresponding posture types. These can then be used for health advice.
VivaBack is already working with customers such as Wien Energie, A1, Vienna Airport, or the Wiener Berufsrettung and the Arbeitsmedizinisches Zentrum (AMZ GmbH) to improve back health in the workplace. A B2C device that allows end customers to measure their back movements themselves is also being planned. Now VivaBack wants to take the next step towards professionalization and have the product manufactured in series.<\/p>\n

Customized industrialization coaching<\/h3>\n

In its search for an EMS partner, the startup chose TELE Haase. “We came across TELE through the AWS Connect program and also rented space in the Factory Hub at their premises for a while for development, so there was already a basis of trust,” says Rosegger, explaining the decision. “In addition, we can use a network of experts here to support us in the production transition,” says Rosegger. For example, TELE held two workshops on “Industrialization” and “Necessary Standards and Guidelines” with VivaBack right at the start.<\/p>\n

Layout check reduces production costs<\/h3>\n

The first step dealt with the topics “Reducing production costs through adapted product development”, “Design and layout check” and “Optimization of assembling and assembly”. Based on assembly instructions from the customer, TELE made several suggestions for improvements that would avoid errors and save time and money in production in the future. In addition, VivaBack was able to leverage the decades of experience of TELE’s development manager to overcome some tricky electronic hurdles. However, the startup benefited most from the comprehensive standards check and final risk assessment. With the help of TELE’s specialists, it quickly became clear that the dreaded declaration of conformity could take place in-house at TELE with the right product declaration, rather than requiring an expensive, external certification body.<\/p>\n

Help with guidelines and certification<\/h3>\n

With several questions still unanswered about the declaration of conformity requirements, TELE went to a second workshop with VivaBack. Together, they created a guideline explaining exactly what the customer needs to prepare, what documents are required and what tests are performed so that the declaration of conformity can be issued without any problems. “This really helped us a lot. Now everything is clear and we can tackle the process step by step,” Rosegger is pleased to say. As soon as all preparations have been made and the conditions for the declarations of conformity have been met, series production at TELE-EMS can begin.
