The new thyristor controller provides stepless control of power consumption of inductive and ohmic loads. To do this, the unit limits the effective value of the network alternating voltage by way of phase angle control, thereby reducing current and power consumption. In this way, the thyristor controller starts industrial heaters and short-wave infrared radiators as well as motors and machines with virtually no impact, using controlled voltage and controlled torque. This permits avoidance of mechanical loads and mains voltage dips.
